When fitting a Total Blackout blind bottom up, it is only suitable for Recess fitting. Please see our video at the bottom of the page for more information. Please note that you must also be tall enough to reach the top of the window in order to full pull the fabric to the top of the recess.
How is a Total Blackout blind different from a normal bottom up roller blind?
Our Total Blackout Bottom Up Blind provides 100% blackout for your room and is beautifully engineered so that all components are neatly hidden away. Conventionally a bottom up roller blind will consist of a cassette to house the roller tube and an exposed cord and pulley system that runs up the sides and above your window as shown below on the left. Our Total Blackout blind features a more elegantly designed spring mechanism which keeps the fabric taut allowing you to pull the blind up, down or stop in any position without a cord or pulley in site!
Our Total Blackout bottom up blind also boasts side channels for the fabric & handle to run through with the added feature of brush seals to prevent any light entering the room from around the edges of the fabric. The brushes on the handle also create a near seal between the handle & top of your recess to stop light entering.
As this is a closed system it also has remarkable thermal qualities, reducing heat loss by 43%, so not only is it fantastic at giving you a good night's sleep but it will help keep your bills down too!
How do I measure for Total Blackout Bottom Up Blinds?
When fitting a Total Blackout roller blind bottom up, it is only possible to fit within the recess. You may find it a little daunting that we require 7 different measurements to the nearest millimetre but this is simply to ensure that the blind is suitable for your window & also so that you get a perfect fit, ensuring maximum blackout. The process is extremely easy when you know what to use & where to measure. We've made a short video guide to help illustrate how to measure as easily as possibly.
