Where to use a blackout roller blind?

Blackout roller blinds help to eliminate light and offer complete privacy. Whether it's early morning sunlight or a street light just outside the window a blackout blind is the perfect solution to get a good night sleep so naturally they lend themselves particularly well to bedrooms but can be used in just about any room including living rooms, bathrooms and conservatories.

Which system is best for me?

We currently offer 3 different types of roller blind system that all work in slightly different ways.

Chain operated system:

This is the simplest and most popular method of operating your blind, you raise and lower the blind using a sidewinder mechanism which is fitted a chain. The idea is you pull the chain which rotates the blind to take it up or down quickly. This will always be supplied with a child safety device for peace of mind too.

Benefits:

  • A cheap solution that is extremely practical.
  • Can be made to sizes that suit almost any window as this is available up to 280cm wide and 300cm drop (170cm drop if the width is over 195cm).
  • The most popular system we offer.
  • Free UK mainland delivery on all orders.
  • Available in a huge range of plain, thermal plus or patterned fabrics.

Spring operated system:

New for 2016 is our Slow Rise Spring Loaded roller blind system. This is a much more refined version of a spring loaded roller blind than we have previously been able to offer which is much easier to use than previous versions!

Benefits:

  • Makes the roller blind cordless which is more aesthetically pleasing and is inherently child safe.
  • You can control the speed the blind rises back up by adjusting the tension on the spring.
  • Quicker to install than a chain operated system as you don’t have a safety clip to fix.

Total Blackout Roller Blinds

For people who need complete darkness we have introduced a range of total blackout blinds. They work by housing the roller blind into a cassette, complete with side channels and a rubber seal at the bottom to create complete blackout in your bedroom or nursery.

The system is easier to install than a regular roller blind as you don’t need to drill anything in place and is also completely cordless making it perfect for kids rooms.

Benefits:

  • The ultimate blackout blind
  • Cordless making this inherently child safe
  • Incredibly good at insulating your home
  • No drill installation
  • Stylish aluminium hardware
  • Available in a wide range of fabrics

How easy is the installation?

Roller blinds are very quick to fit and come with easy to follow instructions. They come with everything you need including a sidewinder mechanism, metal brackets and a child safety device.
