Luxury Sunscreen Roller Blind Collection

Wood Venetian Blinds are the perfect choice when you need to create privacy as well as being able to control the amount of light that enters the room. they are made up of horizontal slats which are strung onto ladder cords to make a blind. The operational cords then allow you to raise, lower and tilt the blind as required so you can control the amount of privacy and light the room receives.

With so many different ranges available it can be a mine field trying to decide which product will be best for your home. Our handy guide below breaks down the different featured you should look for so you can make an informed decision.

Depending on your budget there are several different collections available to you. Our faux wood collection offers the best value for money however our real wood Venetian blinds are very similarly priced to the faux woods and normally fall within a few pounds of each other per blind. These boast the fact they are actually made from wood rather than the faux woods which are a composite PVC made to look like wood.

For those who want the best quality possible we have our premium wood collection which features a more bespoke blind from the outset using a steel head rail, patented easylift system and stained slat ends as standard.

Where is it being fitted?

You should always consider where the blind is going to be fitted before choosing the product as different types of blinds are better suited to certain conditions.

Think about the obstruction your blind will cause for the windows or doors. For example, we wouldn't normally use a wood Venetian blind in front of patio doors due to the fact that when you raise your blind up the stack height will be in the way of your door. On a Bay window a wood Venetian blind is perfectly suited; however you do need to take in to account for handles that project into the room.

All of our real wood and premium real wood Venetian blinds are made from bass wood. Because wood is a natural product it will absorb moisture from the air which can cause it to warp or bend over time. As a result we don't suggest using real wood for bathrooms in particular.

Size of the Window

  WIDTH (cm) DROP (cm) SLATS
  Min Max Min Max
FAUX 32 259 20 300 35, 50 or 63mm
REAL 29 240 20 300 35 or 50mm
PREMIUM 32 242* 20 300 25, 35, 50 or 63mm
ELITE 21 243.8 15 350 25, 35 or 50mm

Depending on the size of your window one consideration is the slat width you use. As a rule of thumb, the larger the slat size the more light you will have enter the room when the slats are in the open opposition as the gaps between each slat will be larger. likewise if you would prefer more privacy you might opt for smaller slats as this will obscure the view from outside more whilst still allowing in some light.

Our Venetian blinds range from 25mm wide slats all the way to 63mm but by far the most popular choice is 50mm which will suit the majority of situations. If you are ever in doubt feel free to take a photo and email it into us for our honest opinion on what we would use.

When ordering a particularly large blind, opt for our Premium or Elite Ranges which come on an easylift system making the blind easier to raise and lower.

All of our blinds can be fully customised in both the width and drop to suit your window perfectly. They are all available with a range of decorative tapes to create a colonial finish and are all available in a range of different slat widths.

There are a few limitations you will notice in the ranges. For example the Faux Wood and Real Wood collections are made with the raise control on the right and the tilt on the left which is a fixed feature. You can however specify a control side on the Premium or Elite collections.

Every collection can be made with decorative tapes which will add around 20% to the price of your blind, again with the less expensive choices being fixed in the colours you can select and the premium or elite collections coming with a choice of colours available.

Wooden Venetian Blinds Fitting Tip

If when installing your blind you are finding it difficult to drill through either at the top of your recess or the wall above the recess, this may be due a steel lintel. In this scenario use a HSS or tungsten Carbide drill bit to penetrate the steel.
