The kitchen is the heart of the home and often the most used room of the house. Choosing window blinds that are right for the space is key so you can both make it look beautiful and get the practical solutions needed like light control, adding privacy and selecting a fabric that can stand up to heat and moisture. What type of kitchen window do you have?

Behind the sink

When fitting a blind behind the sink you want to be sure that the product can stay looking new and not worry about it getting the occasional splash from the washing up. A roller blind offers an ideal solution to this problem as you can specify any of our printed designs on a wipe clean PVC material that you can wipe clean as required. We also offer stylish plain colours in waterproof PVC as both roller or vertical blinds.

When thinking about operating a roller blind behind the kitchen sink it is important to consider when the blind is fitted whether you can reach the controls. For taller home-owners a chain operated blind can be raised and lowered easily, however if you aren’t going to be able to reach the controls it might be worth considering an electric blind, an area where costs have come down considerably in recent years and can then be operated using your Google Home or Alexa.

Kitchen doors

Kitchen doors are a great way to bring the outside into your home. They bring lots of light, allow for airflow and most importantly give you access to the outdoors to enjoy your garden. Ensuring the décor is warm and inviting once the sun goes down helps you to enjoy the space all day long and this is where adding blinds can help.

Loosely you can choose to dress each window pane individually with a product using our Perfect Fit system. This is a great solution because when you open the doors the blind moves with it and leaves the space completely uncluttered and clear - or you can opt to cover the whole window with one or more blinds. This can transform a space by hiding the door away in the evening.

For spaces up to 280cm wide we can provide either a vertical blind in any fabric we offer or a roller blind. For spaces larger than this you could look at splitting the space up into multiple roller blinds and fit them next to each other, just be careful to position the breaks between the blinds where the door frames sit so that you don’t have glass exposed.

Overlooked Kitchens

If your kitchen is at street level, then privacy will be a priority. We offer several solutions to give you back your own space:

A Venetian blind offers a great solution in this scenario as they can be left down, but tilted to allow light to enter the room whilst still letting some light in. Faux Wood Venetian blinds are particularly good for kitchen windows because they are unaffected by water and are incredibly hard wearing.

Our Bottom-up Blinds are another great solution in this scenario. Coming in a few different designs, as the name suggests they pull upwards from the bottom of the window to provide complete privacy at the lower portion while letting light enter at the top.

If you are lucky enough to have a beautiful garden or landscape to look out onto then you might want to simply cut the glare from the sun without removing the view completely. This is where a sheer or a sunscreen blind comes into their own.
