Why use Sunscreen Vertical Blinds?
Sunscreen vertical blinds (also known as Magic Vertical Blinds, Screen Vertical Blinds & One Way Vertical Blinds) create a unique one way view allowing you to see outside during the daytime but for you to have complete privacy from unwanted eyes outside. This feature makes these blinds the perfect solution for overlooked windows such as living rooms at street level or bedrooms at the front of the house. As the fabric blocks out 95% of UV rays entering your room they also function as solar blinds helping to protect your furniture from fading & reducing glare from bright sunlight.
How do Sunscreen Vertical Blinds work?
Created by a vinyl & polyester mesh, the one way view effect is achieved thanks to the fabric being left partially open when woven creating a screen which allows light through yet blocks those outside seeing in. All of the fabrics used in our sunscreen vertical range feature a 3% openness.
This cunning screen utilises the bright day light by reflecting it away to prevent visibility through the openness of the weave. For those inside where day light is not present, you have a great view through the open weave. Please note that during the evening once natural day light has faded, the effect will be reversed when it is dark outside & light inside. With this in mind, please ensure that you have another blind or curtains in place to maintain night time privacy should you require it.
How clearly can you see through a screen fabric?
The clarity of your external view from the inside will depend on how strong the day light is ie. if your window looks onto a sheltered courtyard then your view will not be as clear as it would be if the window view is onto a large, open & south facing garden. The image below is for illustration purposes only but does demonstrate how the view will be from most windows.
Are Magic Screen Vertical Blinds easy to fit?
Yes our range of sunscreen vertical blinds are very easy to fit. They can be top or face fixed when using the correct bracket. How do I measure for Susncreen Vertical Blinds?
Measuring for vertical blinds is easier than you think, just make sure that you use a steel tape measure & take accurate measurements (we work to the nearest millimetre). If you are fitting inside the recess, take wall to wall measurements for the width & top to window sill measurements for the drop. We also instruct to measure in 3 places - top, middle & bottom for the width & left, middle & right for the height, as plastering will commonly cause your recess to differ in size from top to bottom & left to right, often they measurements can differ by a number of centimetres. If you provide us with the smallest measurements of your 3 width & 3 drop sizes this will ensure that the blind will fit within the space.
If you are fitting outside of the recess then please measure the entire space you would like to cover. This measurement will include the top head rail so please ensure you add an adequate amount to the height measurement to consider this. It is completely at your discretion as to how much you would like the blind to overlap on the width but as a rule of thumb we advise that it will want to overlap by at least 10cm.

Are Sunscreen Vertical Blinds child safe?
Yes our sunscreen vertical blinds are completely child safe. We offer two different vertical blind systems - as standard, our magic screen verticals are made on a wand operated system which is inherently safe by design as there are no hanging cords used. The second system is a more traditional chain operated system which will be sent with a child safety device to prevent the chain from causing any harm & to comply with 2014's child safety legislation.
As proud members of the Make It Safe Campaign & the British Blind & Shutter Association (BBSA), all customers of Order Blinds Online can rest assured that every blind we supply is completely child safe.
